Alice Springs Transformations
This gathering on Arrernte Country delved into the ways in which the human / natural environments of Central Australia – Alice Springs impact on our lives. We know that places change us, but we rarely get the opportunity to discuss this with others or share these experiences. This gathering provided an opportunity to share transformative moments and experiences whilst living on and connected to Mparntwe-Alice Springs.

'In conversation' - Wendy Cowan and Declan Miller, Co-Founders of Stick Mob Studio
Running time: 26 mins
'Halted in our Tracks' in three acts
The Story of Stick Mob Studio
Declan Miller and I hold space for a discussion on how we became the co-founders of Stick Mob Studio.
Act One: Getting to Know One Another
Our journey began with the simple act of getting to know each other through sharing stories. It was through these initial interactions that we laid the foundation for our creative collaborations.
Act Two: A Halted Moment
A pivotal moment in our relationship occurred during an everyday conversation that shifted our understanding of each other. This ‘halted in our tracks’ moment happened as Declan and I walked towards a school bus at the end of a school day. This seemingly mundane event profoundly impacted how we relate to each other through specific histories, Counties and orientations in the world.
Act Three: Conceptualising the Halted Moment
A halted moment is experienced as a glitch in space-time allowing reality to recalibrate. Halted moments provide generative portals through which Stick Mob Studio shifts deficit narratives. These moments transform stories told about who we are and what we do in the world.

'An invitation to a gathering on Arrernte Country'
An invitation by Akerte-arenye MK Turner to gather under a sacred ‘Foundational Tree’ along the main pedestrian route through Alice Springs CBD to listen to the stories that ground relationality to place, time, entities, and each other.
Invitation Notes - In Honour Of The Rhizome
In this talk, Craig acknowledges Central Australia’s underground connected systems such as the Arrernte merne yalke, the bush onion. Craig honours the knowledge of recently departed and much missed Arrernte elder, educator and knowledge holder, Dr. MK Turner.
